INTAKE PROCESS

DRWV has a centralized intake process.

Services can be requested by:

Regular business hours are from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. When requested, Intake Specialists will arrange to return calls prior to 8:30 am and past 4:30 pm.

Intake requests via phone, e-mail, fax, or mail will be responded to within three business days. Three attempts will be made to reach the person (by phone if at all possible). Emergency intake calls will be handled when the call comes in or within one working day.

Calls considered to be emergencies are ones that relate to:

  • Abuse or neglect allegations with danger of safety risk

  • Services being terminated (within 7 days of call)

  • Disability related eviction notices (for eviction within 7 days of call), or

  • Disability related appeal/hearing notices (to occur within 7 days of call)

***For life-threatening emergencies, call 911***

When the caller is not a client, parent, or Legal Guardian but is trying to obtain assistance for a potential client, the caller will be advised to have the client, parent, or Legal Guardian call DRWV. Callers may be offered resources if needed.

When the caller is calling on behalf of someone with a disability who is in jail or prison and the caller is not the Legal Guardian, the Intake Specialist will offer to send a letter to the potential client to request that they contact us if they wish to complete an intake.

When an intake is on behalf of a minor, the following individuals can initiate DRWV’s services:

  • Either parent

  • The court appointed Legal Guardian

  • A foster parent or other person who has physical custody

  • Another adult with verbal permission from the parent to DRWV

  • The minor themselves with verbal permission from the parent or court appointed Legal Guardian
